The Alexander Technique is a long proven and innovative approach to movement that teaches you how to think in activity. By bringing attention to the way you move and respond, you develop mental discipline and gain indirect control over your own full potential. Despite what many think, it’s not about ‘posture’ or finding a "correct position" —it’s about transforming the way you think, move, and live.
The Alexander Technique helps performers develop the mental discipline to move, speak, and express with
greater freedom and ease. Rather than trying to force change, it teaches you how to indirectly influence
your body
by becoming more aware of your habitual way of thinking in the moment.
Through this embodied approach to movement, actors and performers learn to find poise within any activity,
access their full range of expression, and perform with clarity, confidence, and authenticity.
Lessons provide an engaging and supportive space where you explore both how you move and the thinking behind your movements.
Through these activities, we explore key principles behind Alexander's work and how these principles can be
applied in daily ways to improve your ease and efficiency. Every experience can be a doorway to greater
freedom and skill!
Each practical lesson consists of discussion and guiding hands-on work. During these sessions, we'll take a
fun and lighthearted look at your movements and the thoughts that influence them! This may seem small or
subtle at first, but bringing attention to how we think about our everyday movements often leads to
surprising shifts - even a general sense of greater freedom in our daily lives.
Group classes are also a hugely beneficial option, as they allow for observing others, sharing insights, and participating in group discussions. This often deepens understanding in ways that individual work alone may not. That said, private lessons are equally valuable and may suit some learners better. You’re welcome to try whichever format feels right for you - or both!
Private lessons are tailored individually, depending on your specific needs or the activity you're focusing on. Pricing is evaluated on a case by case basis, please contact me below.
While many students experience positive changes such as reduced pain, less tension, and overall better
well-being, the Alexander Technique is not a form of therapy or a replacement for medical treatment. It is
an educational approach focused on developing awareness and choice. Through this process, students learn to
use their thinking and reasoning abilities to improve how they move and function.
One of the most exciting aspects of this work is that it meets you exactly where you are. Whether you’re
brand new to an activity or have years of experience, there is always room for growth and continuous
improvement.
"I’ve had the pleasure of participating in several ITM/Alexander Technique workshops led by Brian, and each one was a game-changer. As a working actor since childhood, I found the methodology both fascinating and deeply effective—retraining the body to move with ease, awareness, and intention. Brian’s approach helped me reconnect with my physical self, whether I was simply sitting or delivering a monologue. His guidance is gentle, intuitive, and grounded in deep expertise. Whether you’re an actor, athlete, or just someone curious about moving through life with more freedom and poise, I can’t recommend Brian—or this work—highly enough. Do yourself a favor and sign up today."
"Brian's ITM Alexander Technique teaching is invaluable for anyone looking to improve their relationship with their body, overall thinking, and general fulfillment in life. It has a universal application toward any discipline or skillset, and its effects only compound with each successive lesson. Brian is an insightful and empathetic teacher who gracefully guides students to deeply profound realizations. I guarantee his teachings will carry powerful lingering effects for you well beyond the session time."
"I feel so lucky to have the privilege of being Brian's student! Not only for acting purposes, but the tools I learned from him can be applied to so many other aspects of my life. I often think about his teachings no matter what I'm doing, whether on set or while singing and driving in my car! I can be a bit anxious and nervous, but his welcoming and calm manner put me at ease. It's been eye-opening to learn (or perhaps re-learn) how the poise of my head can affect the rest of how my body moves. I highly recommend Brian's teachings no matter what phase in life you are! "
"Brian is an attentive, caring, and knowledgeable teacher. His lessons have provided me newfound insights and awareness about my body, mind, and the connection between them. In doing so, he has expanded my acting ability. More importantly, he has empowered me in the use of self."
